This was somehow more than a "how to". Mr. Wynter's narration of his thought process along with the fluidity of his drawing process was illuminating. The movement was what I've had a harder time understanding in a book format.

really great, straightforward and helpful explanations - Chris is super easy to listen to, and I ended up learning a lot!
It would help to include the reference photo in the video, and maybe even in the reference materials section

I clicked on this video totally and random and I'm so glad I did. The artist showed how you can render a fairly complicated still life with simple steps. The about drawing the verticals first is something I'd never heard before and I'll use that all the time.

Truly made me understand chiaroscuro better. Chris Wynter's holistic approach to capturing an impression of a still life as opposed to a photo-realistic rendering was just what I wanted to learn.

This is still one of the best videos I have found here.

He shows how expressive and lively charcoal can be and his rendering of a still life is all about the feeling of light dancing across the surface and not so much about getting caught up about realism. I like how charcoal is movable and its sculpture abilities on paper with the help of very few tools.

Really enjoyed his verbal process made me feel and see the light!

A true artist. Offered a way of seeing as well as technique. If there could only be one video on charcoal I am sure glad it was his. There was a lot of helpful insight into setting up the still life. Although the objects themselves were unrelated to each other, his use of composition and light placement made it interesting. I would also like to see more videos on charcoal by Mr. Wynter.

I love love love this guy's artistic point of view. I am so disappointed that he has only one DVD.
Beautiful, mysterious rendering. A true artistic soul.

Excellent use of ordinary objects and simple tools. I liked his narrative over the drawing process as he explained the process. Four stars instead of five because the last part of the video was more on the artist than on the drawing. Abrupt ending -some views of close up finishing details in progress, but no view of the finished work.
