Awards Juror

Costa Vavagiakis ( has exhibited extensively in galleries and museums throughout the United States, including shows at The National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. and The Frye Art Museum, in Seattle. His work is held in the collection of the Museum of the City of New York, the New-York Historical Society and the Arkansas Art Center, as well other public and private collections. Vavagiakis has been the recipient of many distinguished awards, including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and the Gregory Millard Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts. His work has been featured in various arts publications, including Artists Magazine. A dedicated and prolific teacher, Vavagiakis has taught at the National Academy of Design School, the New York Academy of Art, the Gage Academy, Brooklyn College, Columbia University and the Yale School of Drama. He’s currently on the faculty at the Art Students’ League of New York, where he has taught for more than two decades. He also teaches privately from his studio in Brooklyn, New York.
