I love painting fish and I’m sure you will too! In this lesson, we’ll explore color contrast as I show you the techniques, I think are important for painting fish. Follow along and create your own painting! Join me, Gigi Chen, and fellow artists from around the world as we embark on this acrylic painting adventure together.

Using contrasting colors can really make your artwork pop. Let’s use complementary colors, Yellow and Purple, to really allow your subject to come alive and not fade into the background.

I’ll be using:

Acrylic Paints: Burnt Umber, Payne’s Grey, Titanium White, Mars Black, Cadmium Yellow Light, Yellow Ochre, Quinacridone Red, Ultramarine Blue

Brushes: A variety of small rounds and flats

Surface: 8×10 panel

Additional Materials: Water jar, Rag for blotting, Wet Palette, Graphite paper for transfer
